About Replete

By Replete · Updated

Replete is an app for tracking what you eat and learning what to eat. One photo logs the whole plate, every plate gets an honest one-line read, and a short lesson a day teaches you what to eat, not just how much less.

What it does

Who it's for

People who want to lose weight and keep it off, and were told to eat less but never shown what to eat. And people who train, who want to know their food backs it up: enough protein, then the carbs and calories to fuel it. No diet is assumed. It works the same for meat eaters, vegetarians and everyone in between.

Where the numbers come from

Your calorie figure starts from the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, using your height, weight, age and activity. Protein is set per kilogram of body weight, from 1.2 to 1.8 g depending on how active you are. Added sugar follows the World Health Organization's definition of free sugar. A scanned plate's figures are an estimate from the photo, which you can correct; a barcode's come from the pack's label, via Open Food Facts; the figures in our lessons, fact cards and games come from USDA FoodData Central. Our guides follow the same rules: see how we write and check them.

Your data

There's no account to make. Your food log stays on your phone; a photo is only sent to be read when you scan it. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

What it costs

Replete is free to download. Free accounts get 10 photo scans a week, unlimited barcode, voice and typed entries, every plate's read, and the first 5 lessons. The full program (every lesson, your habit plan with reminders, and unlimited photo scans) is $39.99 a year or $4.99 a week, and you can cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play account.

What it isn't

Replete shares general nutrition information. It isn't medical advice, it doesn't give meal plans or crash diets, and it never promises how much weight you'll lose or how fast.
